Encouraging Hearts and Home 12.10, 2020

Family Traditions when your Family isn't Traditional, English Toffee Cookies, Chewy Choco Chips, and Nuts Cookie Bars, How to Make A Beret (with free pattern), Homemade Marshmallows, and Quilted Star Ornament are this week's featured posts!

Hello and Welcome!

We took delivery of our new hanging light over the dining table. But wouldn't you know it, even the clear bulb casts a yellow glow...I guess I will need to learn some additional photo editing skills! I do however love my electric bill from the new LED lights in the house, but I miss that clear bright light from the bulbs used in the past...

We have been quite busy with work, holiday shopping, and general living around here. So much so that we have been patching dinners together most evenings! We definitely need to get back to menu planning, I must admit, it does work very well for busy folks, even us! Because of this, I haven't had much opportunity to think about the recipes I hope to share in the coming days, save these two. There will be no Christmas morning without homemade eggnog, and these easy GORP cookies are last-minute easy, and we all can use a recipe like that!

Look for the following two recipes to enjoy before Christmas arrives. As I said, the eggnog is a part of our Christmas morning traditions we look forward to each year.

Eggnog for Christmas Morning, this new recipe will be coming soon!

Especially homemade Eggnog. Until I learned to make my own eggnog, I thought I didn't like it. The commercial variety in the dairy case is too thick for me, almost like drinking a pudding, but this is creamy and smooth. As you can see from this photo, a few simple ingredients, is all you need!

Good Old Raisins and Peanuts Cookies, this recipe coming soon!

And these Good Old Raisin and Peanuts Cookies. One of our favorites that will be fun to share, plus they make a great last-minute gift for the friend next door or even down the block!

Remember if you are looking for a recipe drop me a line, I love the hunt for treasured recipes!
