In My Kitchen July, looking back on June 2025

Happy July! June was a quiet month around here, with school getting out, and families traveling after big graduation events or simply being released from the daily school schedule. We even were the recipients of a wrapping on the house. Here in Texas when someone "toilet papers' your home as a prank, it is called a wrapping. And now it is July...and we are joining Sherry for In My Kitchen her monthly event where we all get caught up with one another, sharing all the kitchen activity from the month before!

Happy June first! I will just come right out and say it, I am not sorry May is over...we were without water for six days, I did use some of the month developing a sourdough recipe, and finally after 8 failures, (yep 8!) In My Kitchen May 2025, looking back on April

I have to admit April was not our best month so far, and that includes the month we were part of Tropical Storm Beryl and were without power for almost a week! At least with a tropical storm you know what is coming your way! But I still got a lot most of our dinners made each evening, with leftovers a regular feature along the way.  AND two new recipes, yikes, that is really quite sad when you think about it. But there are a few good reasons, so I hope you stay and read the rest of the story! As we join Sherry for, In My Kitchen! 

 

In My Kitchen April 2025, Looking Back on March

Welcome to In My Kitchen! Once again we have the pleasure of joining Sherry for her monthly link-up to showcase our kitchens. Sharing what we might have cooked, accomplished and purchased. I will tell you right now, March was wild! We had big storms, food inventories shortages that needed restocking with our usual trek to Lufkin to meet the Azure Co-op truck. And on the hot days a garden screaming out to be conquered...

Let me just say right now that February was not my favorite month here in East Texas! The coldest on record with below freezing that went on for days at a time. While we do not get the deep snow like many other areas, cold is still cold! And we were cold! But get through it we did and today we join Sherry for In My Kitchen.

I just took a look back at the intro for the January 2025, In My Kitchen and I have to say, while I was surprised that January arrived so quickly, I am not sorry to see her leave! Turns out East Texas had a very cold month. January is usually our one month of winter, but yikes, this was a cold one! So in spite of not much of anything new happening around here, I am still happy to be joining Sherry for In My Kitchen!  

In My Kitchen January 2025, Looking Back on December 2024

Let me just start out by saying, it is so hard to believe that January 2025 is here! Interestingly, for many of us, we remember when the year 2000 was the year to be worried over because all the computers were programmed with 199? and would anything work, when the world turned over to 2000 at the strike of midnight? And now in what seems like a blink of any eye, it is 25 years later...

Again this month we are joining Sherry for In My Kitchen! And I have to say, December was a busy month, with a first cruise, cooking, celebrating and digging Devil's Claw Fungi from the garden beds...Life I tell you, it will keep you hopping!

In my Kitchen December 2024, Looking Back on November.

My first thought is that I cannot believe how fast December has arrived! It seemed miles away when I first started the garden and we as a family booked a five day Disney Cruise, back in August or there about. And yet we take off in two weeks! For today however we are joining Sherry for In My Kitchen, a monthly look back on achievements, kitchenware acquired, any lessons learned, or enjoyable and lively tales about the delicious food you cooked and served!  Come, and have a visit...
