Count your blessings even in the rubble.

Sometimes you have to count your blessings even in the middle of destruction. Yes, you did read that right, count your blessings even in the middle of the rubble

This tree snapped in the high winds in the middle of the night. My husband found it the next morning when we opened the chicken coop. The noise from the wind was loud enough, we did not hear a thing...

This is the ONLY way this tree could have fallen during high winds and not caused serious damage to the house and injury to those sleeping inside. So, yes, we were blessed!

After three days on the ground, the snow had melted and the clean-up began. We are in another cold streak and have not been above freezing for days. During clean-up, the twigs and small pieces snapped under the sole of my shoes.

As I was tossing the log pieces into a pile to dry out, and gathering up the limbs for a burn pile, I noticed how close this actually was to the bedroom at the end of the house.

And as I sit here typing this post out with pitch-covered hands and listening to my family chatting together in the nest room, I will repeat...We were blessed! Even in the rubble...
