Hello and welcome to Tea Time on a Tray Blog Tour! This is my second tray tour and as we are on the road, we are having tea at camp, I invite you to come and take a look...
First things first, I want to thank our hostess Katherine of Katherine's Corner for all her hard work organizing and getting everyone ready and in line for the tour! This is my second tray tour and just like the last one, it has been a great deal of fun! So come and take a look! If you are following the tour route, Meagan at decorative inspirations was your last tour stop. Thank you Meagan!
You will find the blog that follows Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household at the end of this post. I hope you continue to enjoy our tray and the story of tea at camp, then continue with the tour and see what each blogger has offered on her tea tray. I think the best part of any tray tour is getting to know the blogger behind the blog...
I think the last time I was part of the tour I mentioned that I was not a lifestyle blogger, but in reality I am, just a very different sort of lifestyle. I blog about creating a homemade life with as much travel as possible thrown in. No not cruises or trips to Europe, although I do have savings earmarked for a trip to England I hope to take. Our lifestyle is all about a DIY attitude and lots of family around. Family to help out, get help from and travel with!
Today we are enjoying tea in the hill country in Eastern Texas! When we last visited one another we were finishing up with a volunteer assignment in Arizona at the base of the Superstition Mountains. When that assignment was completed we decided to see more of this great country we call home and headed to Texas. It turns out, you never know what winter travel will bring! This is my first time in Texas, but I hope it is not my last...I have lived in a number of states and have come to see a bit of each state in this particular area of Eastern Texas.
We are enjoying the end of winter, early spring weather that includes some rain, some wind and a bit of thunder. But mostly blue skies. There are so many birds singing all around us, especially after a spot of rain. Each day brings a choir of bird songs, most of which I have never heard before! In the evenings we are serenaded by the local coyotes and all the cattle grazing in the fields around us. We have quietly settled in a small RV park that is was once a catfish hatchery, with several small hatching ponds and a bridge walkway running throughout the park. And there is a pen of goats, along with some sheep and a very large pot bellied pig! Yes, it turns out that I am that person that gives nicknames to animals I meet along the way! Meet Billy and Little Blackie...when we take our little grandson out for walks and to play at the park we pass by and give a scratch on the head to these new friends. At first our grandson just growled at the goats, but less than a week late he was feeding them grass clippings from his hand.
The lovely thing about tea time at camp is that it is all about comfort. Mugs to warm your hands after a walk, a Whole Wheat Jam Crumble Bar to fill in the gaps from the last meal to the next and a choice of teas to choose from. Usually we enjoy a mixed drink in our mugs. I myself enjoy the combination of mint, chamomile and green tea sweetened with honey. My husband will often drink what I offer or if he is in a quiet mood enjoy sipping a black tea with sugar. However I have learned to put more spoons on the tray than cups, that way one is dedicated to the honey jar!
We are waiting for the snowy passes between here and our home state of Wyoming to open, and at that point we shall begin to journey north. As it turns out it was a blessing to be volunteers and travelers this winter. We had significant water damage in our home from frozen pipes and would have had no place to live in our rural community. Until then we walk each day, hike when we can, explore as much as possible, love our grandson, and learn more about East Texas.
Thank you for stopping by, I always enjoy having a friend, a visit and a cup of tea.
Now I invite you to go and visit Rachel at the Antique Journey, to peek at her Tea Time on a Tray offering!

I loved this post Melynda! How wonderful to be with family and away from the cold for a little while. We are waiting on our next snowfall forecasted to arrive tomorrow in Colorado. I'm guessing some of that will hit your home in Wyoming too. Your tray has everything you could possibly need for a cozy tea time made all the more special by Billy and Blackie! Lovely touring with you today. Safe travels home!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, we are blessed to all be together and be able to watch and enjoy our young grandson change each day from a baby to a toddler with all the wonder we find each day to enjoy and take in. Take care when your next snowfall takes place, winter will end soon, at least the snow!
DeleteMelynda,
ReplyDeleteI love that you still participated while on the road!! Again, I was thrilled to see that you incorporated your camping lifestyle into your tray with that sweet little camper and the sayings on your mugs!! The plaid place mat on the tray is charming....Thanks for sharing and be careful going through those snow blocked passes!!! I enjoyed "touring " with you today...
Debbie thank you so much. When I visited each stop I found so many lovely tea service sets and linens to enjoy and many brought back wonderful memories of visiting with my grandmother so many years ago. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it.
DeleteHi Melynda, This is such a fun way to style a tea tray and I love the messages on your mugs! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
ReplyDeleteCecilia, thanks so much!
DeleteHi Melynda, tea tends to be thought of as such a formal event. I loved that you have such a relaxed and casual "air" to you tea service. I drink tea every afternoon and not always with a formal setting. It's the drinking of the tea and the sharing of the tea that is most important.

I agree, I had the privilege of taking Tea at The Empress Hotel in Victoria B.C. on two occasions and it was such a treat, but a warm mug and a spoon of honey will always be my favorite way with tea! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI always love reading about your adventures Melynda. You have some amazing experiences and I hope you're journaling regularly because you could write a book some day. I always love your take on these tray tours since your perspective is so refreshing. Happy Trails and stay safe. XO- MaryJo
ReplyDeleteMaryJo, thank you for your kind words. When I first started I was worried that my NOT being a Lifestyle blogger might be a hindrance, but it turns out, my lifestyle is just a bit different! Thank you for your visit, I appreciate it!
DeleteMelynda I always love taking these tours with you. You have so many great adventures and experiences. You should write a book some day. I love your fresh perspective and it's always so invigorating. Happy trails and stay safe. XO- MaryJo
ReplyDeletePS. Sorry if you get 2 comments from me, My first one seems to have disappeared.
MaryJo, I feel honored to get both comments!
DeleteSo cute Melynda! I love your camper salt and pepper shakers, and the cute Rae Dunn mugs! This checked cloth covered tray is perfect for your travel and camp out life style!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Funny thing about the Rae Dunn mugs, I love them for the adventure they represented, it was my sister who told me about Rae Dunn. I had no idea about her designs. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your visit.
DeleteWhat a fun tray! My grandparents retired and sold their home to my mom and traveled the country in their fifth wheel. I went to a residential high school for intellectually gifted students about four hours from home, so the first two years they parked at a camp near the school. My friends and I would go there as they had a lake and some hiking trails, and my grandparents became "Granny" and "Poppa" to all of my friends lol. They even took my daughter on a month-long trip with them later on when she was about 3. Reading your post made me nostalgic for that time. My grandfather passed away suddenly, and I didn't expect to lose him when I was still young. I still have my grandmother, so I'll give her a call! I hope you have a fantastic trip back north! Pinned. Happy touring with you.

Thank you Bev!
DeleteYou have a great variety of teas to choose from. Your camping sounds amazing. Enjoyed reading your post
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteOne of the fun things about our tray tours is seeing how different each interpretation can be. I loved that yours was about your everyday experience. Hope your grandson participates in tea traditions!
ReplyDeleteSandra, my thoughts exactly. This was my second tour and I must admit I was concerned my trays would not be of too much interest, but I have come to enjoy the new friends made along the way. Thank you kindly for stopping by, I appreciate it.
DeleteYou may be traveling, but you have set such a fun tea tray with your fun cups and that adorable salt and pepper set! I am fortunate to live all over the country as a child which offered opportunities to visit almost all of the United States. I only have a couple of states in the northeast to finish off! Happy and safe travels!
ReplyDeleteChloe, thank you kindly. You are much more traveled than I! Not certain I will see all I wish to see, but I hope to keep working on my list! Have a great week ahead, take care.
