Encouraging Hearts and Home 09.09.2021

When Lightening Strikes, the Universe Pays Back, Exploring Pepin WI and the Laura Ingles Wilder Museum, Happier Holidays Begin in September, and 75 Self-Reliant Skills to Learn are this week's featured posts!

Hello and Welcome!

We have had an interesting week! Our young hens are now laying, but also they have become broody, leaving caches of eggs in the yard and the shop.

We gathered up all the eggs (47 eggs total!) from the two caches we found and disposed of them.

Now our smallest little hen has become broody. I have fixed up an isolation cage for her to wait out her 21 day broody cycle returning her to the coop to sleep safely with the others.

We placed this large rock where the cache of eggs were found in the lilac hedge. But the next day, yes one more egg had been laid! Only one thing to do...

Make an Egg Shovel to retrieve the eggs without having to crawl into the lilac hedge! It is always something new and exciting around here...
