The Frugal Foodie Cook Book, for Book Review Linky #16.

Welcome to the Book Review Linky Party, a monthly sharing link-up for books! We are so happy that books are once again, back in fashion! And a great way to keep them front and center is to share a review of what you have read, if and how you enjoyed it and if you would recommend that book to a friend! Oh and a story or two of how you came to own or stumbled upon the book would also be fun...

The Book Review Linky will start the first Wednesday of each month!

Which means it will be a month long opportunity to be a part of the fun. It is hosted with a full link-up at Homemade On A Weeknight! After linking up your review, do be sure to take a look at some of the other reviews that were shared. You just might find your next good read...plus it is just good fun to support other readers and bloggers. Reading, like travel is the one area where you can (and will) spend money only to be so much richer after doing so!

I am so happy to be a part of this weekly event!

Reading has always been something I have enjoyed. First as a child visiting the library each week (hello Little House books!), then as a parent and grandparent (Good Night Moon!) and always as a cook in my own kitchen. Cookbooks in particular have played a large part in recipe development and as a means to widen my own limited food horizons! While I might not get to Spain or Germany, through a recipe, I can cook the foods enjoyed there! Not to mention learning how to knit, fix a leaking pipe, or even plant a garden, because books can be a large part of our own, journey of a lifetime!

What am I sharing this week?

The Frugal Foodie COOKBOOK
Waste-not Recipes for the Wise Cook.

Lara Starr with Lynette Shirk
Copyright 2009 by Lara Starr and Lynette Shirl

This book is just about perfect! Large enough to have many wonderful recipes, but small enough you do not get lost finding them! While I have cooked from this book like all the other books I have reviewed, for some reason none of the recipes I have made, have made it to this blog. I have had this book long enough that I did post recipes from this book on my prior blog Mom's Sunday Cafe

The Chocolate Cupcakes on page 76 come to mind. A rich chocolate cupcake that is self filling with a chocolate chip cream cheese filling. So easy and so good!

Her recipes are matter of fact, call for basic ingredients and easy to make while still being made from scratch. It is a frugal approach to meals, but trust me a delicious one!

And something tells me I need to remake those Chocolate Cupcakes and converting them to whole wheat flour. I know my hubby will love them and they are rich, yet not to fussy so they will convert easily!

The chapters are as follows:

Bankable Breakfasts.

Brunches, when your wallet doesn't have bunches!

Midday Money Matters, Lunches for less.

Snacks on a Shoestring.

Dinners on a Dime.

Pulled Purse Strings Parties.

Clever Kids Meals.

Midnight Snacks.

Thrifty Gifts.

If you are lucky enough to see this book in a bookstore, I suggest you buy it!

And now on to the Book Review Linky @homemadeonaweeknight!
