A couple of days ago I published this year's most popular posts, the Top 10 from 2021, thanks to all of you!. These were the favorites from you, the readers of Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household. It goes without saying that bloggers always hope that each post will resonate with their readers, and while I am a fan of every post included in the top 10, the following are my own personal favorites, each a new post in 2021 with one from each category!
Favorite Beverage:
How to Make a Root Beer Float Punchbowl! Could it be a celebration without this tasty punchbowl? Not if you have youngsters as guests as well as those young at heart! I started making this so many years ago for my residents in the Senior Living Complex I managed, they love it as much for the memories, as the taste. Plus it is a tidy way to make rootbeer floats for a group of folks.
Brown Sugar Sour Cream Banana Bread. This loaf of banana bread is the perfect way to take whole wheat flour and a couple of bananas and get a perfectly tender cake-like loaf of tender, delicious banana bread. You will love it, I promise.
Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon, Sour Cream Pickled Onions, and Capers. Yes, this is a long name for a breakfast recipe, but it is also simple to make, and delicious to eat. Simple to prepare, but quite elegant at the same time.
White Chocolate Peanut Butter. No matter what you spread this on, it will be delicious! Or for those stolen moments, just dip your finger in and enjoy!
Slow Cooker Apple Crisp, with a secret ingredient! Don't let the plain name fool you, delicious as is, or with a bit of whipped cream...
How to make A Bird Habitat from recycled/repurposed items. We love the birds in our yard, and this habitat in the corner offers them a private place to eat, nest in the springtime, and get away from a hungry hawk when necessary.
Rustic Chicken Medallions with sipping gravy. Basic pantry ingredients and a few common cooking techniques turn the ordinary into company fare...
One Cup Two Cups Three Cups Lentil Soup. One of the most satisfying recipes for lentil soup I have ever made. Frugal also, as an added bonus!
My real kitchen at Scratch Made Food! From a two-car garage to a small efficiency apartment, we love our little home!
Casey's Blue Cheese Vinaigrette, a restaurant favorite now made at home. You can't beat the flavor of a good vinaigrette and this one with blue cheese crumbles tops them all!
Raspberry Sauce with Port and Cinnamon. Make this beautiful jewel-colored sauce in the summer and tuck it away in the freezer to enjoy at your leisure.
Ham Bone Soup with White Beans Sweet Potatoes and Kale. Using a ham bone is one of my favorite ways to cook soup. The sweet potatoes and beans make this rib-sticking and delicious!
Red Beans with Garlic and Red Wine. Beans show up as a side dish often on our table. This version is so good, and why I never thought to use red wine before escapes me!
Whole Wheat Jam Crumble Bars! Pick your jam and start baking! This pan of jam crumbles is easy to make, and they will disappear fast!
