Busy Day Fruit Cobbler, a dinner idea

Cooking almost every meal we eat, is my usual kitchen style. Often requiring a bit of creative license to use what we have on hand, in the pantry. When eating dinner, my husband will turn to me and say, "are you going to blog this?” That is how a dinner idea came to be...not always a recipe, but too good, not to share.

Today we have, Busy Day Fruit Cobbler.

5 Minute No Sew Task Apron for Homestead Sunday #6

Welcome to Homestead Sunday, where we share what we have learned, what we do on a regular basis, and what projects we are building, rebuilding or working on. Who are we? We are a three generation family living on six acres in South Eastern Texas.

And while we have only been in Texas a short time, we have had the homestead mentality and lifestyle for quite a few years. Starting out with our time living in Montana. And, although we are not experts in any way, I hope that what we share with you with this series is helpful, as well as inspirational for you and your own homestead journey. Or even with your own home and yard in the suburbs. Because to homestead is an much an action as it is a lifestyle.

It doesn't take too many visits to our homestead to see that we use what we have, recycle or simply make do with what we have. And while from time to time this can (and does) be problematic, for the most part it goes smoothly!

Like this 5 Minute No Sew Task Apron

I like to use a pair of my husbands worn out jeans for this project.

They are just large enough that this apron is easy to put on. Where as, if I used a  pair of my own jeans, the wrap around would work, but, once buttoned, it would be snug. Probably too snug for comfort.

This apron is the result of cutting off the front sections of the jeans while leaving the waistband intact. To use, simply button it around your own waist, (button in the back) and you are ready to get things done! Come and take a look at how easy this is, to have a no sew apron.

This pair of jeans is about six years old. The last kneel, in the garden, simply did them in. But they are perfect for a 5 Minute No Sew Task Apron, come and take a look!

Button the jeans and lay flat. Cut off the legs just below the crotch area.

The apron front is the back/butt of the jeans. You will need to remove the front of the jeans. Cut away the front of the jeans up to the waistband, cutting between the seam and the rivet. Then cut the front away from the waistband, cutting between the waistband and the zipper teeth. Clip the button loops near the top of the waistband. Cut the other side in the using the same instructions.

Cut away the crotch seam. Since the seam is not a part of the finished apron, cut leave it with the front section.

Fold the apron in half to check the bottom edge, cut a smooth shared edge, if needed.

After cutting away the front sections of the jeans, what you have left is the backside of the jeans and the waistband. For a 5 Minute No Sew Task Apron

To wear as an apron, button the waistband in the back and then you can fill those pockets with what you need!

In My Kitchen March 2025, Looking Back on February

Let me just say right now that February was not my favorite month here in East Texas! The coldest on record with below freezing that went on for days at a time. While we do not get the deep snow like many other areas, cold is still cold! And we were cold! But get through it we did and today we join Sherry for In My Kitchen
