All in the Oven Cookbook for Book Review Linky #5!

Welcome to the Book Review Linky Party, a sharing link-up for books! We are so happy that books are once again, back in fashion! And a great way to keep them front and center is to share a review of what you have read, if and how you enjoyed it and if you would recommend the book to a friend! Oh and a story or two of how you came to own or stumbled upon the book would also be fun...

This Book Review Linky will start each Wednesday at 12AM MST

and will run Wednesday through Tuesday of the following week. It is hosted with a full link-up at Homemade On A Weeknight! After linking do be sure to take a look at some of the other reviews. You just might find your next good read...plus it is just good fun to support other readers and bloggers. Reading, like travel is the one area where you can and will spend money and yet, you are much richer after doing so!

I am so happy to be a part of this weekly event!

Reading has always been something I have enjoyed. First as a child visiting the library each week (hello Little House books!), then as a parent and grandparent (Good Night Moon!) and always as a cook in my own kitchen. Cookbooks in particular have played a large part in recipe development and as a means to widen my own limited food horizons! While I might not get to Spain or Germany, through a recipe, I can cook the foods enjoyed there! Not to mention learning how to knit, fix a leaking pipe, or even plant a garden, because books can be a large part of our own, journey of a lifetime!

What am I sharing this week?

I am sharing one of my favorite cookbooks that I used to take on the road with us, when we would complete NPS Volunteering for winter travel. All in the Oven Cookbook is a comprehensive cookbook of not just recipes, but complete menus, for all occasions. And all portions of each recipe is completed in the oven. This method of cooking was a great way to cook in a small RV kitchen each winter. Not only would we get a lovely dinner, but we would be cozy warm as well!

Here in Texas I bake in my canning kitchen in one of our outbuildings. Trust me, it is way to hot in Texas, to bake in our tiny home! Winter travel offered a different climate. One winter we were in the Sonoran Desert right on the border with Mexico, and the daytime temperatures were lovely for winter time, but the desert does get quite cold in the evenings. These all in the oven dinners were just what we needed!

I had to take a good look around the blog and I realized that I could not see any recipes from this amazing cookbook, so I did what needed to be done. I made Oven Braised Beef and Pork, so that you could see how easy it is to get dinner on the table, only using your oven! I have no doubt as I take another look through this book for future dinners I will notice how many I have already made, and get them posted as well. Because in my opinion, this cooking method is one of the best. All the recipes are easy prep, then in the oven it goes, leaving you to get on with your day and or the tasks that must be done. Plus dinner is ready when you are!
