Encouraging Hearts and Home 07.15.2021

How to Make a Fabric Ball, Grilled Bacon Wrapped Steak, Wyatt's Dark Chocolate Brownies with Fudge Frosting and Chocolate Chips, and Air Fryer Steak Bites are this week's featured posts!

Hello and Welcome!

We are reaching the end of the last week for family leave after our grandson was born. There was a long laundry list of important projects to get completed and with the last one now completed, it is back to work time!

Besides all the family that had come to visit, a replacement fence around half our property was built, the second floor of the shop was started with laminating the beams, floor frame and is now finished. The only thing not completed was the raised garden beds. But we knew from day one, a garden this year was really stretching it!

Currently, we are in a heatwave, along with fire season. Our little valley seems to gather the smoke from wildfires both near and far. We could not see the mountain ranges that bookend our home, which is unusual.  You are looking at the Bitterroot Mountain range. Directly behind me (as I took this photo) lies the Sapphire Mountain range, it was even more socked in with smoke.

Our chickens are out, about and very busy! Maybe just a little too out. We have had neighbors on both sides let us know the chickens visit their yards also...and while they have been very nice about it remarking that they really don't care, we will string up a chicken wire barricade to keep them home. Because where ever they go, they leave a trail of what they ate the day before! We have some clean-up to do!

In case you missed it, here are some helpful posts you may want to visit!

Chocolate Sugar for Mochas and Hot Cocoa. You can't go wrong with a convenient multi-tasking homemade helper in the kitchen like this one!

How to Make a Homemade Wedge Pillow. This is perfect for relaxing or sleeping in a slightly raised position. Don't be surprised if the kids "borrow" this comfortable pillow.

How to Make Your Own Bread Crumbs and Creative Ideas for Use. Homemade bread crumbs are a cinch! Plus you can make Italian Flavored Bread Crumbs for a fraction of the cost of buying them at the store!

  1. Thanks so much for featuring my bacon wrapped steak from last week's party, I appreciate it. We were just watching a news story about the fires out your way. Crazy weather patterns this year too! We have been rained on just about every single day and it isn't plain summer rain either. Some of the storms are horrendous. The gardens were definitely effected! Good job on working through your projects and congrats on the new grand baby -we just had one ourselves a few weeks ago! Blessed!
    Take care,

    1. Melissa, first you are very welcome! I love reading and trying your recipes. Grandbabies are the best, congrats to you as well. The chores have been draining in this heat to be honest, but deadlines don't change based on weather as you know. We knew the garden was a no go this year and signed up with a local CSA to get as many veggies as was possible in us. Thanks for stopping by, have a great week ahead.
