Here at Scratch Made Food!, we are all about creating a memorable Thanksgiving meal. With easy preparation, while using ingredients already found in our pantry. Like you, we have our favorites looked forward to year after year. But if you find yourself needing suggestions for one or two new recipes to serve, take a look at some of these suggestions...
Serving ham along with turkey? I suggest Mary's Pineapple Raisin Sauce, this family favorite has been served at our table for over 50 years and is sure to please! The sweet and sour flavors in the sauce play off the smoke-y ham perfectly.
If you are looking for delicious, tender rolls to serve, I would like to suggest these Whole wheat Cottage Cheese Yeast Buns. This easy yeast batter recipe has no last-minute shaping, just stir together, rise, divide into muffin cups, rise again and bake. Plus they taste delicious!
Through the years we have learned that having plenty of side-dish options is the solution for any large gathering. We all love good food, but we all want to eat the good foods we love!
With that in mind, I would like to suggest the following group of sides that will complement your own family favorites you serve each year.
This Onion Gratin is a special favorite of menfolk. Don't get me wrong, I have never eaten a cooked onion I did not like, but for some reason, this is man food! But everyone will love the tender onions and crunchy topping.
Laurie's Super Easy Corn Casserole is a favorite to make, for many reasons. But mostly because it is delicious, and calls for basic pantry ingredients. Plus kids love corn...
Butter and Cinnamon Glazed Carrots is one side dish that everyone will enjoy. Just enough brown sugar and cinnamon to make these special, but not too much to make them too rich for your holiday meal.
Do you need a salad suggestion or two? Salad is often missing from a holiday meal, and yet, salads are the easiest way to get more vegetables into your meals. Maybe one of these will help round out your dinner!
And finally, how about dessert? We usually offer a few different choices at our table, in that way everyone gets to choose what they like.
Creamy Banana and Kiwi Parfaits are the perfect fruit dessert that is healthy and yet looks fancy! It probably wouldn't hurt too much, to add a bit of whipped cream on the top. It is Thanksgiving after all!
Are you serving a cookie plate? The following cookies are all delicious, whole grain, and perfect for that cookie plate!
Possibly you would like a dessert that can be made the day before? Something rich and delicious, but different than the pumpkin or pecan pies already planned for? Our suggestion...
This Chocolate Cheesecake will offer a delicious, yet different dessert from the standard holiday pies! You see I love pie, but not everyone in our family does...
And with those suggestions to add to your own family favorites, everyone here at Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving! May you be surrounded by friends and family as you enjoy dinner and memory-making!
