These Creamy Banana and Kiwi Parfaits are just the ticket, for a healthy and delicious dessert or afternoon treat that will keep you satisfied until dinner rolls around. Any time life is in full swing, there will always be more activates and busy times ahead. And all this increased activity usually means increased appetites. Fortunately it is always much easier to say yes to the request for a treat when they are made from wholesome ingredients.
All this tasty fruit and yogurt parfait recipe requires is fruit, yogurt and a touch of honey. Most likely the same ingredients you already have in your pantry and refrigerator. Plus this is the prefect recipe to let your budding cooks tackle as well as those younger cook's helpers, help with! Not only will they get a wholesome treat, they will begin to learn how to cook food they want to eat.
Snacks are actually important for kids, as long as they are healthy!
Speaking for myself, saying yes to a snack for my children and now my grandchildren was always about eating healthy foods when hungry. And let's be honest, kids are always hungry! Sometimes it is hard to remember that they burn a lot of calories just growing. So make sure that what you keep in your pantry is the food you want to your kids and grandkids to eat. Making it look delicious is really quite easy...these Creamy Banana and Kiwi Parfaits are proof of that!
Some additional thoughts on this recipe:
You will want soft ripe bananas for this recipe, the ones that do have a few brown spots on the peel. The sweet fruit adds to the flavor of the creamy yogurt layer.
Out of kiwi? Strawberries make a grand substitute!
As do raspberries and blueberries...
Need more than two parfaits? This couldn't be easier to double or triple.
Note: if serving to a child under one year of age, substitute real maple syrup for the honey.
Ingredients needed for this recipe:
- bananas
- kiwis
- honey yogurt
You will also need the following:
- small knife
- small plate
- measuring cup
- serving dishes
Now we are ready to begin!
