Thanksgiving Menu Planning Suggestions.

Thanksgiving is that day of all days that the foods we keep dear in our memories need to be on the table. But if your family is anything like our family, a few new foods are always welcome! This year we are actually breaking with tradition and having not only turkey, but also baked ham...

Starting out with the main course...

No ham dinner is complete without this delicious sauce to eat with your slice of ham. Mary's Pineapple Raisin Sauce is a family favorite and one I look forward to enjoying each time ham is served!

And it goes without saying that no turkey dinner would be complete without a delicious cranberry sauce, and this Cranberry Dried Cherry (and a jigger of gin!) Sauce is the best!

With the main dishes taken care of let's turn our attention to some sides that you really won't want to skip!

Thinking of a starter to begin the meal?

This simple to prepare Fresh Pear with Gorgonzola Balsamic Vinegar and Toasted Walnuts is fresh, delicious and a wonderful way to begin a meal that is as wonderful as those who sit around your table. This is also festive when served in a quarter of the pear, for smaller plates.

Small plates of this Winter Pea Salad with Tomatoes and Cashews is a unique and delicious starter.

Let's look some delicious side dishes.

Stovetop Brussels Sprouts with Parmesan Cheese and Garlic, only10 minutes stovetop, for the most delicious sprouts you will ever serve!

Onion Gratin. This pan of tender of baked onions under a bread crumb topping is a favorite of just about everyone.

Green Bean Cobbler, is the other green bean casserole you wonder why you waited so long to try!

Laurie's Super Easy Corn Casserole! Not much needs to be said about this one, because who doesn't love a good corn casserole?

Will there be a bread basket to enjoy?

We do tend to have rolls of some kind at our Thanksgiving table, and this easy recipe for Whole Wheat Cottage Cheese Yeast Buns are worth the time investment for fresh bread...

And let's quickly move on to dessert!

This is where we often make changes from the year before. Also not everyone around our table like pumpkin pie, sadly because I love it, but do not need to eat most of a pie. Think about a couple of these...

Creamy Butterscotch Meringue Pie, just like grandma made, and it is so good!

The Perfect Cheesecake. Is soft, creamy and can be baked the night before...

Jessica's Favorite Deep Dish Pecan Pie, it wouldn't be Thanksgiving with out this pie.

This might be a bit of overkill, but this Chocolate Cheesecake will guarantee that your guest will want to be invited to your next meal...

While we have enjoyed offering menu suggestions for your Thanksgiving meal, more than anything else, we would like to thank you for your continued visits to Scratch Made Foods! & DIY Homemade Household through the years, because without you, this would only be a few words written in the wind.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

  1. I don't go all out for Thanksgiving since we spend it at the beach but I do love to make a special Christmas dinner.

    1. The beach at Thanksgiving is lovely, we use to live on the coast in WA state, and the serenity was a blessing. Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it.

  2. The pear with gorgonzola is made for me - a taste sensation! We always have a baked ham the day after Christmas Day, and I'm often stumped by a sauce. Thanks for linking at Is This Mutton
