And now back to our regularly scheduled Reboot!

What's happening at our house?

We are having our last (I hope!) cold snap. Today we fed the flock three times because it never got above freezing. The wind is whipping and very cold. So while they could free range in their large fenced in area, there was not much or possible nothing at all, to forage for. Fortunately the two different groups of chickens are now about as cohesive as they will ever be. 

They take turns eating and nesting as needed. I do keep two feeding trays for food so that each group can get enough without a severe "pecking order" behavior taking over. And my guess is, the younger hens matured into mama birds when the nesting urge took over, so they are not as mindful of the larger hens, like they once were. Before now, they were two completely separate groups of chickens.  

We came across two portable staircases while out walking and after a quick check with the remodeling team on site it turned out, they were no longer needed. They came home with us and were repurposed into this double sided shelf for flower pots in the garden. 

And all of our seed starter boxes, deck plants and two pineapple tops we hope to root, are in the shop so that tonight's 23 degree weather does not take them out! Yes, I will be quite happy when this cold snap, snaps!

So why did my husband and I put together a tiny house homestead here in East Texas? 

Turns out, it is a bit of an interesting story, you can read about it here if you like...and now that we are settled in, we have also made a photo tour of our 5thwheel tiny home. You really must be organized to fit it all in, cooking, gardening, homesteading and also a bit of fun from time to time!

And from time to time when inspiration strikes, I write about it all. The good, the bad, and all the other stuff from years ago, if you have an interest in creative thoughts down on paper...you could take a gander here. 

And...

I try each day to get out and take a moment for myself to observe and see the daily changes taking place on our property. These moments taken out wandering have helped me find small repairs needing done as well as a rose that might have just bloomed. I decided to photograph these findings for enjoyment yes, but also to observe the land around me along with the changes (and hopefully improvements through the years.)
