I am learning to live without my Mom, who passed in 2013 and the ups and downs of being pretty newly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I love cooking, reading, crafts, and all things beautiful. I am an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and I go by she/her pronouns.
I enjoy politics, music, pop culture and sports. As a family we love to explore, adventure and learn about what we can do to love and care for our community!

And now back to our regularly scheduled Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot!
What's happening at our house?
It's cold! Here in East Texas we have one or two weeks of winter in December, and then comes January and we have one or two weeks of colder winter before it begins to warm up. We are at the end of the colder winter with warming on the way! At least this year we did not loose power...but just in case we did our due diligence and made sure we had fuel and an easy to start generator.
Easy to make meals planned with all the ingredients already here in our pantry. Laundry fully up to date, folded and put away. Extra throws in the living room and additional blankets on the bed.
We put up a wind screen around three sides of the chicken coop. We insulated all the hose bibs. We hung a heat lamp in the greenhouse to keep the pineapples from freezing. And a heater in the under storage of our 5thwheel to keep the incoming water lines from freezer along with a little heater in the shop for the shop sink.
I did NOT get my 6000+ step in each day. And I did NOT always keep myself busy with crats or cooking. I did spend quite a bit of time under a throw to keep warm. I will be happy when our usual hot weather returns to East Texas!
Why did my husband and I put together a tiny house homestead here in East Texas?

Turns out, it is a bit of an interesting story, you can read about it here if you like...and now that we are settled in, we have also made a photo tour of our 5thwheel tiny home. You really must be organized to fit it all in, cooking, gardening, homesteading and also a bit of fun from time to time!
And from time to time when inspiration strikes, I write about it all. The good, the bad, and all the other stuff from years ago, if you have an interest in creative thoughts down on paper...you could take a gander here. And now From the Heart Vol II can be found here.
And...
I try each day to get out and take a moment for myself to observe and see the daily changes taking place on our property. These moments taken out wandering have helped me find small repairs needing done as well as a rose that might have just bloomed!
I decided to photograph these findings for enjoyment yes, but also to observe the land around me along with the changes (and hopefully improvements through the years.) You can find those photos at our Welcome to our Homestead page.
