Encouraging Hearts and Home 04.08.2021

Spring Cleaning for the Heart, the Best 15 Sewing YouTube Channels, Orange Pound Cake with Strawberries, and Why and How to Sift Your Compost are this week's featured posts!

Hello and Welcome!

Monday was a busy day, we had ordered three 16.5 cubic yard dump truck loads of gravel to build a driveway on the back end of our property, giving us access to the shop we built last year. Our son-in-law was in a cat working the dump scoop on the front, lifting and filling in, as my husband and I were on working ends of hand rakes. And wouldn't you know it, on Monday we had an unusual snowstorm, after a warm and sunny Easter Sunday...

I know, it doesn't look like much snow, that's because we kept dumping more and more gravel to get the road made!

We were all very happy when the last load had been dumped and we got it moved and raked smooth. I told my husband, I definitely earned my serving of dessert that night! And what kind of cake did I bake to enjoy, only the most delicious, tender One Bowl Carrot Cake ever made! It was served with a lovely and so easy to mix up Buttermilk Creme Dessert Sauce instead of frosting, because, well I was a bit tired...

Easy and delicious, One Bowl Carrot Cake with Buttermilk Creme Dessert Sauce.

Our chickens are doing very well. They are going to be ready for their coop right about the time we get it built! Right after the coop, we need to get the raised beds for the garden built, filled with soil, and planted. Because soon, we will have a new grandbaby to love! The labor suite at the hospital was scheduled today for his arrival...
