Welcome to my 'Handmade in Israel' blog. My name is Lisa Isaacs. I am a British-born graphic designer, now living in Israel with my husband and two young sons. After obtaining my BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design and working in various design related jobs both in the UK and in Israel, I now work from home, designing and creating handmade greetings cards, customised guest books / photo albums, treasure boxes and pictures, primarily working with cut paper.
I am excited to share my work and thoughts with you and hope that you will enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy creating the work that I show on it.

What's happening at our house?
We had a great Zinnia bloom this year, and it only made sense to do a little seed saving. I am a little late many of the blooms are brown, so I chose the ones where I could still tell the color of the flower.
Upper right, see that mound? There is a wheel barrow under that mound, and three more just like it came out of that bed. (pay no mind to the bed to the left in the photo, but it is next...).
Lower left, I put all pulled weeds in the chicken yard. The ladies and gentlemen love scratching and pecking through them, but today, they also got a heavy handed sprinkle of sunflower seeds over the top!
Lower right, do you see that pathetic sweet potato laying on top of the dirt? It literally cooked in our heat. I had given up on it to get slips started for the purple flesh Japanese Sweet Potatoes I would like to grow. But walking past the nursery pot today, what did I see? Yep a slip growing!
You just never know what will grow, die back or surprise you in the garden!
Why did my husband and I put together a tiny house homestead here in East Texas?

Turns out, it is a bit of an interesting story, you can read about it here if you like...and now that we are settled in, we have also made a photo tour of our 5thwheel tiny home. You really must be organized to fit it all in, cooking, gardening, homesteading and also a bit of fun from time to time!
And from time to time when inspiration strikes, I write about it all. The good, the bad, and all the other stuff from years ago, if you have an interest in creative thoughts down on paper...you could take a gander here. And now From the Heart Vol II can be found here.
And...
I try each day to get out and take a moment for myself to observe and see the daily changes taking place on our property. These moments taken out wandering have helped me find small repairs needing done as well as a rose that might have just bloomed!
I decided to photograph these findings for enjoyment yes, but also to observe the land around me along with the changes (and hopefully improvements through the years.) You can find those photos at our Welcome to our Homestead page.
