As the days slip by quickly, a few more names will come to mind! You know the ones I am talking about. The co-worker that actually makes your job easier. The neighbor who always puts our your garbage can, on those rare times you forgot. The clerk at your market that you have become friends with, because you always get in her lane, no matter how long the line is...Yes, those folks!
If you are like me, you will want to take a moment to drop by and give them what I have come to call the, I'm so glad we met, and have gotten to know one another! gift. It doesn't have to be fancy, or even expensive. But it does need to come from the heart as all great gifts do!
How about giving that person a gift of convenience and delicious food?
I began giving packaged cookie dough as quick gifts years ago. Why? Because if someone had given me a small bowl or a hand packaged tube of dough for slice and bake cookies, I would have been thrilled! As all busy, hard working people would be! Having a dozen cookies taking up precious little space is money in the bank. And is there a better smell than freshly baking cookies when you go and visit someone?
Packing up the goodies is as easy as how they will be baked.
For drop cookies you can pack the cookie dough into a container with a tight fitting lid, wrap if desired or simply put the baking instructions on a card and add a bow. For cookies that start out as a ball of dough, such as snickerdoodles, roll into balls, place on a paper lined sheet and freeze solid before backing. Again, place in a container with a tight fitting lid, add the baking instructions and a bow! For slice and bake cookies, shape into a log about 1 1/2 inched in diameter, roll in waxed paper or parchment. Then again in heavy duty plastic wrap. Add the slicing and baking instructions, and a bow. They all go with additional wishes of the happiest Holidays ever!
How about a few suggested cookies that would make delicious gifts?
Starting right out of the gate are oatmeal cookies. These three recipes were developed as frozen dough to thaw and bake. Plus the dominate flavor of each recipe is deliciously sophisticated. Even the original recipe...
Mocha Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies.
Oatmeal Cookie Dough, for the freezer with 9 flavor variations!
My favorite way to gift any one of these Oatmeal Cookie Recipes is to go ahead and roll the dough into balls, and then package after freezing. Sometimes I roll in sugar, and sometimes I do not. Either way, a package of Oatmeal Cookie Dough is always appreciated.
Three additional recipes that are delicious candidates for gifting to friends!
All three of these drop cookies are delicious and will make excellent cookie dough gifts. If not this holiday season, at just about anytime in the future. Because if we are lucky enough to have friends like that, Christmas will not be the only time you want to offer a friendship gift...
You will not find a more delicious cookie than these Whole Wheat Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. Crispy on the edges, and a bit of a chew in the center. The packaging is simple, a container with a tight fitting lid, baking instructions and of course a bow!
Quick and Easy Sugar Cookies is the cookie to keep in mind for those folks that enjoy a bit of a sweet treat, but not too sweet. This cookie will hit the spot every time!
These Cinnamon Flats are unique in that they call for cinnamon extract. But no worries, it is easy to make, and while the recipe states let the extract steep for a couple of weeks, you can hasten the process by bringing the ingredients to a boil and letting them cool...problem solved! For this recipe you will be rolling the dough into balls and then rolling in cinnamon sugar before freezing them to package. Don't forget the baking instructions and a bow!
I hope you have fun with this suggested gift idea!
