Let's make a Root Beer Float Punchbowl! Perfect for your next get together...

Just a handful of ingredients come together for one of the easiest and most fun desserts ever! Let's make a Root Beer Float Punchbowl. The easy way to serve a root beer float to friends!

The perfect solution when serving Root Beer Floats for a group!

Last night for fun we made a small Root Beer Float Punchbowl. After a long hot day of chores, it sure hit the spot. Ice cold root beer with little icebergs of vanilla ice cream and just a touch of whipped cream. What's not to like?! Then we dug in!

Punch cups or even coffee mugs are the perfect way to enjoy this foamy, frosty treat, there is plenty of room for a straw and a spoon for a bit of ice cream in between sips of creamy root beer. Trust me, you're going to enjoy this!

A Root Beer Float Punch Bowl is also an easy way to serve root beer floats to a large group. Convenient also because you can make the serving size as small as you want or need, which is especially handy for the young ones, who will probably want just a little bit more. Funny how two small cups satisfy just a little bit more than a larger single cup!

You can prep the ice cream ahead of time. And assemble at the last minute.

Plus you can pre-scoop the ice cream into balls, cover them, and get them back into the freezer for a quick assembly later. In addition, you have the option of starting with the root beer first into the punch bowl or the ice cream. The difference? When you pour the root beer over the ice cream, you get more foam. Some folks love the foam, some want to get right to the root beer!

During my working years, I would offer this treat at work during our tenant lunches, in my Assisted Living Center. It was one of the first things to disappear from the buffet table. Proof that you never outgrow your love for a delicious Root Beer Float!

At one of our lunches, just for fun, I put Ugly Mutt Punch on the menu. Everyone came to see what that could possibly be. From there on out, everyone came to the lunches to have a punch cup of root beer float, socialize, and enjoy a meal with friends. In the photo below, the large bowl on the right is from one of those lunches...

And for those that remember the old fashioned drink a Brown Cow, all you need is a bit of chocolate syrup. Drizzle some over the top and you instantly have a Brown Cow.

According to this source, Frank J. Wisner owner of Cripple Creek Brewing created the first Root Beer Float on August 19, 1893. Personally, I am glad he did! I have fond memories of root beet floats from my own childhood when we would go to A&W after our Sunday drives. And I love them as much or more to this day.

Ingredients needed for this recipe:
  • vanilla ice cream
  • root beer
  • whipped cream, if desired
  • chocolate syrup, for the Brown Cow lovers out there!
You will also need:
  • ice cream scoop
  • punchbowl
  • ladle
  • punch cups or wide-mouth glasses
Now we are ready to begin!
