My Favorite Top 5 Posts from 2025

Blogging is an interesting way to express and or demonstrate what individual and families do or eat or care about. And while I have been blogging for over 20 years, I find that what I write about, must have a thread of myself or it doesn't ring true to the project or recipe being presented. Which is why Creativity and heart come together to highlight My Favorite Top 5 Posts of 2025!
Come and take a peek...

Good food and good ideas never go out of style, many of these come from my own childhood which was decades ago! I hope these 5 offer you some inspiration in your home as well.

I am a Laurie Colwin fan. Her novels are on my bookshelf and her cookbooks are in my kitchen. I will admit it took me awhile to make this, largely because I was concerned about chocolate and gingerbread going together flavor wise. Well don't be! Because this is spectacular! I urge you to make Gingerbread with Chocolate Icing immediately!

We are very much bird fans, with several feeders in our yard. But that is not the only reason to feed the birds. They are a very important part of the full cycle of ecology of your yard. Some birds are seed eaters (eating many of the weed seeds) along with the birdseed you offer. And many others are bug eaters who help keep the bugs under control. Which is why Please Offer Some Wild and Open Areas on Your Property is one of my favorite posts for 2025.

Creamed Potatoes and Peas, is another old fashion recipe from my childhood that started in my Grandmother's kitchen! Yes I know she was not the only Grandmother to make this classic dish, but I loved it each time a bowl of Creamed Potatoes and Peas were placed upon the table. And has been served and enjoyed since those childhood days!

One aspect of living rural is being prepared, which led to this collection of The Recipes We Make on Repeat to Keep Our Pantry Stocked. They aren't all made each week, but every one of these staples is made on regular rotation! Running to the store is not an option, but being prepared is.

Grape and Celery Salad with Pecans is not only delicious with sweet grapes paired against the crunchy celery, but it is another easy to make recipe using basic pantry staples. Which as it turns out is my favorite way to cook! One of the things I am most proud of is developing recipes that are easy to make, and delicious to eat. While still calling for pantry basics or what I already have on hand.

And now...

We would now like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued visits to Scratch Made Food! & DIY Homemade Household through the years. It is appreciated very much, and has made developing new recipes, and writing this blog so much fun! And I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
