Quick and Easy Sugar Cookies, whole wheat delicious!

This little batch of Quick and Easy Sugar Cookies solves all your dessert needs! Why? Because they are just right on their own or alongside a dish of fresh fruit for a quick and healthy dessert.

A basic sugar cookie is worth it's weight in gold, because...

Sugar cookies are so easy to dress up with frosting or serve just as they come out of the oven. Making them the perfect cookie to send off to school and work for lunches or to share with friends and family. You will find that Quick and Easy Sugar Cookies will come to your rescue time and time again. On their own, these cookies are tender and chewy, not too sweet and so easy to make. And they are the perfect recipe to bake for kids (of all ages!) and with kids, as a fun activity.

Need a bit of a fancier dessert?

If you are looking for a bit more sweetness they make a wonderful sandwich cookie with a bit of buttercream frosting or strawberry jam in the middle! Quick and Easy Sugar Cookies like all sugar cookie recipes are primarily flavored by sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla. That wonderful flavor makes them a perfect mate to just about any serving idea you might have...

This recipe calls for White Whole Wheat Flour. While this might not be in your kitchen pantry currently, White Whole Wheat Flour is a natural strain of grain and the perfect way to introduce your family to whole grain treats. While these cookies are a good beginning recipe to get the family to enjoy whole wheat baked goods, they can also be made with regular whole wheat flour!

I have never been a "roll and cut" sugar cookie baker!

Sugar cookies might be the one cookie with many different personalities. In many homes sugar cookies are rolled out like pie crust and cut into fun shapes. Roll and Cut sugar cookies usually have a crispy texture. Another presentation is to pinch off pieces of dough, roll into a ball and then roll in sugar before baking. These sugar cookie shave a crackle-y outside when first bake and soften upon storage. While this third version is by far the easiest (making it my favorite!), a simple drop cookie. Personally I love the dimpled tops...

Some additional thoughts on this recipe:

While absolutely delicious as is out of the oven, if needed the following suggestion may be fun to try!

When dropped and baked, the dimpled tops are great to catch a pour on glaze for extra flavor, such as a coffee glaze or even a chocolate one.

When rolled into balls and flattened, the flatter surface is perfect to pipe on a frosting decoration, such as a bow or flower to dress them up a bit.
