Easy Oven Baked Whole Wheat Pancakes

If you want the whole family to sit down to breakfast at the same time, these Easy Oven Baked Whole Wheat Pancakes are for you. Start the day out right with breakfast shared with those you love!

Pancakes are often requested for breakfast by my husband.

I make pancakes often for breakfast because they are a favorite of my husband's. But even with just the two of us, I was at the stove while he ate breakfast...and I would eat mine, when the cooking was done. Not horrible, but definitely not a shared meal. Then one day while we were volunteering as National Park Service support staff, I got the idea to pour the batter into a small pan and give it a quick bake in the oven. As it turned out, it was just the technique we were looking for! We each got to enjoy fresh hot pancakes, together

These whole wheat pancake were inspired by the one cup pancakes from Jamie Oliver.

I love the One Cup Pancake recipe from Jaime Oliver. It is simple enough for younger cooking-savvy kids to make their own breakfast, and it adapted perfectly to my recipe for Whole Wheat Self-Rising Flour. I like my pancakes with a little vanilla in the batter and yogurt with applesauce on top. My husband who has more of a sweet tooth and prefers maple syrup and walnuts on his first serving and then peanut butter and jelly on his second.

These pancakes also make a great dinner with fried eggs and maybe a slice of ham on the side. Our mornings usually start off so busy, that dinner time is one way for us to enjoy these pancakes. So tell me, what is your favorite pancake topping?

Ingredients needed for this recipe:

  • whole wheat self-rising flour, recipe found here
  • milk
  • egg
  • vanilla if desired
You will also need the following:
  • medium-sized mixing bowl
