Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork.

This Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork couldn't be easier. Plus you can char the meat a day or two in advance, then when ready to cook, get out the slow cooker and open a bottle of beer! Come and take a look...

Pulled pork is one of my husband's favorite meals.

And while this recipe is a bit different, it is completely delicious. I enjoy dipping my pulled pork into the reduced pan juices, while my husband enjoys his favorite BBQ sauce over the top of his. Either way, it is a delicious meal everyone enjoys. I love charring meat before throwing it in the slow cooker to finish, but if your grill is out of commission, just give the roast a good browning on the stove. Don't burn it, but a good rich brown char is what you are going for.

How should I serve Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork?

Feel free to offer Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork as a sandwich on a crusty style bread or individual buns to soak up all the savory pan juices! But when the weather is really hot, we will often enjoy a simpler meal of the meat and a vegetable on the side. Either way, no one will leave the table hungry...

Another way we enjoy this braised pork is to use it to stuff a baked potato, add some grated cheddar over the top and give it a moment under the broiler for a fun and delicious dinner. A salad or vegetable on the side is all you need for everyone to leave the table satisfied. Offer a simple fruit dessert, if desired. Often when we have these for our dinner, I will also offer a small bowl of this easy sauce to drizzle over the top...

BBQ Sour Cream Sauce

1/4 c barbeque sauce - use your favorite

Combine in a small bowl and whisk until smooth and combined. Offer at the table for folks to drizzle over their baked potato dinner.

Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork, a slow cooker recipe
Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork

Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork
by the seat of my pants!

NOTE:  This pork roast recipe is a two-step process, generously season the meat with salt and pepper and charred the outside (this can be completed a day or two ahead for convenience) on the BBQ grill. When ready to cook, add a bit more seasonings, some coffee and a bottle of beer. Then go and enjoy your day!

1 Pork Shoulder about 6 pounds (bone-in) - charred on a BBQ
Salt
Pepper
1/2 c strong coffee
1 12 oz. bottle beer (we used fat tire)
Garlic powder
Onion power
Salt (lightly, you will adjust after cooking completely)
a sprinkling of Sugar

If charred ahead, place the charred roast in your slow cooker dish and refrigerate until ready to cook. When ready to cook, pour the coffee over the roast. Sprinkle with the garlic and onion powders.

Lightly salt and pepper the top and sprinkle with the sugar.

Pour the beer around the roast (but not over the top, you will wash off the seasonings), cover and cook on low until very very tender. Eight hours or so.

Transfer the pan juices to a saucepan, reduce by about half.

Chunk or pull the pork into serving pieces and serve with small cups of juice for dipping. You may also serve as a sandwich "French dip" style.

Storage options for Coffee and Beer Braised Pulled Pork. Store the meat separately form the reduced pan juices in the refrigerator for up to three days. You may freeze for longer storage, but do expect some changes in taste and texture.
