Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake

Fortunately apples are available year-round, which means you can enjoy this delicious Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake any time you wish! Come and take a look at how easy this cake is to make. And I don't know anyone that doesn't like apple cake, how about you?

Apples are often in our fruit bowl on the kitchen table. Perfect to get a cake ready when ever needed.

And often stored in our fridge or root cellar for longer periods of time. They are a quick healthy snack, or the needed ingredient for a delicious dessert. Depending upon the time of year and what else is in season, they will be eaten quickly, or they will remain behind to mellow and soften. When softened into a juicy sweetness, it is time to do something with them. Often I will make a bowl of applesauce if I have enough, or chop one up for a salad, but my favorite is this Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake!

Baking is one of my favorite kitchen chores.

Fortunately, I usually have a reliable oven. Which I am grateful for, as baking is something that I enjoy and do regularly. There is whole wheat bread to bake, but also smaller things like cake. I have enjoyed spending time developing whole wheat recipes for almost everything we eat. But the dessert recipes are a little more enjoyable to develop. Because don't we all from time to time wish for a piece of cake? I know I do, and my guess is, so do you.

This Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake is perfect plain or dressed up a bit.

For some reason I always feel a little bit guilty if I eat a piece of cake for my snack. No doubt from childhood, where pretty much all cakes were baked for dessert! Around here and I don't know why, but I usually bake a snack cake in a square pan. But any cake served with a topping or ice cream is usually baked in a round pan. My guess is, this was a tradition that my Mother learned from her mother and it was passed down to me. Not in words necessarily, but it definitely showed up in the baking pans used! And don't we go with what we know?

I actually have both types of pans, how about you?

No matter the pan, because once you cut this cake into pieces, then top with a bit of whipped cream or a little scoop of vanilla ice cream, it is just right for dessert. And no one needs to know how easy it was to stir together and bake. But the best part? No matter which pan shape you use for baking, it works for a snack cake as well as a dessert cake. There is nothing better than Easy One-Bowl Apple Cake and a sunny day to enjoy it with friends.

    1. Apple cake was a favorite of my Mom's, we ate it year round as a kid. But I agree apple desserts are always a good choice late winter when other fruit is not yet available and yes in the fall for the new crop.

  4. I like the easy one bowl part. My cabin came with an old propane range that came from a trailer in town. The burners worked fine, but the oven was hard to control. It was either too hot or too cool. When we remodeled the cabin eight years ago we upgraded both the range and fridge. It's made a huge change in my ability to cook and store food. - Margy

    1. (so sorry I missed this comment earlier) I remember those days of cooking, washing up, cooking, washing up! Since I am a sink dish washer, I try to be conservative on the amount of prep dishes also.
