Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Granola

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Granola, tastes just like Pop-Tarts! Another easy to make granola your family to enjoy. Granola is so easy to make, why buy it?

The one treat I remember from my childhood was Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts, I loved them! They were not a regular visitor at our table, but when they came home from the grocery store, I wanted mine toasted and buttered. In the beginning, Pop-Tarts did not come with frosting (which was too sweet for me, anyway), but buttered, straight out of the toaster nothing was better, or so I thought...but they were a sometimes treat. With 5 kids that little box did not last long!

I have never forgotten that combination of maple, brown sugar, and cinnamon surrounded by the toasty crust. Even though I have not purchased (or even eaten!) a Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tart in over 40 years. But, I think this granola comes very close in flavor, and who doesn't enjoy reminiscing about their childhood?

I also thought I would share this from Wikipedia,

"Originally not frosted when first introduced in 1964, it was later determined that frosting could withstand the toaster, and the first frosted Pop-Tarts were officially released in 1967. "
The four original flavors were strawberry, blueberry, brown sugar cinnamon, and apple currant.

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Granola is easy to make and makes a new flavor to add to your granola rotation. While the recipes for Honey Almond Granola and Maple Pecan Granola do not contain refined sugar, this recipe is sweetened primarily with real maple syrup so you can still offer your family a healthy breakfast.

  2. This is very similar to the granola I make. We much prefer our homemade to the storebought.

  3. I remember pot tarts- we did eat them for breakfast but now I realize they were nothing more than a sweet dessert probably full of chemicals. Anyway, your granola looks good and healthier and love cinnamon and brown sugar.

    1. I am old enough (YIKES!) I remember them coming out in 1964. They were not served often in our house, too many kids. But I always remembered the flavor combo of brown sugar and cinnamon. This granola is a fune change from my stock flavors I keep on hand.

  4. I only tried pop tarts a couple of times. I do like the flavour of cinnamon though so this does sound delicious.
