Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese

If you are looking for a true fix-it and forget-it recipe for Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese? One that calls for everyday ingredients from your pantry and minimal preparation time, then stop here! This is one easy recipe to toss in your slow cooker and serve.

This is a great recipe for those times you want creamy, cheesy Mac and Cheese, but you don't want to spend all day cooking it! It is also perfect to serve alongside any entree with, dare I say it, no gravy for those mashed potatoes!

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, is also easy to toss together when you are making BBQ burgers, Baked Beans, and Cole Slaw. Because one thing holds true, everyone loves Mac and Cheese, especially the young ones running around who say they are not hungry, but you just know they are.

The name says it all! Easy Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese.
Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, served with Fried Green Tomatoes!

When I say this is easy to make, I mean it! Just put all the ingredients in the slow cooker, stir gently, and cook. Yep, that's it. A big, delicious flavor from a few simple ingredients, and one seriously easy preparation.

Ingredients needed for this recipe:
  • milk
  • cheddar cheese
  • macaroni
  • butter
  • salt & pepper
  • ballpark mustard
You will also need the following:
  • slow cooker
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • stirring spoon
Now we are ready to begin!

So easy to make, Easy Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese.
Easy Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, made with basic pantry ingredients.

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese
adapted from: Fix-It and Forget-It New Cookbook

1 T butter
1 1/2 c uncooked macaroni - we used whole wheat elbows
3 c milk
2-3 c grated sharp cheese (or a mixture of your favorite cheeses)
generous 1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1/2 t ballpark style yellow mustard

Rub the butter on the insides of the crockpot insert, to grease it.

Add remaining ingredients, mix well.

Cover and cook on low, 2-3 hours. Note, you might want to check for doneness at the 2-hour mark. It is very easy to overcook pasta in the slow-cooker.

Also, depending upon your slow cooker, you may want to turn it too high the last 30 minutes if there is water around the edges and you would like it to evaporate.

    1. If you have used it successfully in other recipes, I don't see why not. On the other hand, give it a try and see how it goes!
