Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese

Everyone loves Mac and Cheese, and now this whole foods recipe can be made in the slow cooker...come and take a look at Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese quite possibly your new family favorite!

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, from scratch, and so easy to make.

If you are looking for a true fix-it and forget-it recipe for Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese. One that calls for everyday ingredients from your pantry and minimal preparation time, then stop right here! This is one easy recipe to toss in your slow cooker and then simply serve.

Grating the cheese will be the hardest part of the recipe!

This is a great recipe any time you want creamy, cheesy Mac and Cheese, but you don't want to spend all day cooking it! It is also perfect to serve alongside any entrée with, dare I say it, no gravy for those mashed potatoes! And it is just right for a meatless Monday dinner on any day...in other words, this is the Mac and Cheese recipe of your dreams! And when I say this is easy to make, I mean it! Put all the ingredients in the slow cooker, stir gently, and cook. Yep, that really is it.

Since everyone loves Mac and Cheese, you will want to make this often!

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, is perfect to toss together when you are making BBQ burgers, Baked Beans, and Cole Slaw. Because if one thing holds true, it is that everyone loves Mac and Cheese. Especially the young ones running around who say they are not hungry, but you just know they are. They will always eat some Mac and Cheese, and then go back and play!

Ingredients needed for this recipe:
  • milk
  • cheddar cheese
  • macaroni
  • butter
  • salt & pepper
  • ballpark mustard
You will also need the following:
  • slow cooker
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • stirring spoon
Now we are ready to begin!

adapted from: Fix-It and Forget-It New Cookbook
UPDATED: 11.04.223

1 T butter
1 1/2 c uncooked macaroni - we used whole wheat elbows
3 c milk
2-3 c grated sharp cheese (or a mixture of your favorite cheeses)
generous 1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1/2 t ballpark style yellow mustard

Rub the butter on the insides of the crockpot insert, to grease it.

Add remaining ingredients to the crockpot, mix well.

Cover and cook on low, 2-3 hours. Note, you might want to check for doneness at the 2-hour mark. It is very easy to overcook pasta in the slow-cooker.

Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese, tender, creamy, and ready to serve!

Also, depending upon your slow cooker, you may want to turn it too high the last 30 minutes if there is water around the edges and you would like it to evaporate.

Storage options for Slow Cooker Mac and Cheese. Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to four days. You may freeze this recipe for a longer storage time, however do expect some changes in texture.
