Pears and chocolate come together deliciously in this easy to make Classic Pear and Chocolate Chia Pudding. Perfect to stir up in the morning and enjoy for dessert after dinner that same evening!
Chocolate and pears together are a classic flavor combination in more recipes than a cook could ever cook, before running out of time! And so the question became, why not in a a delicious chia pudding? Which is how I came to make this easy and delicious Classic Pear and Chocolate Chia Pudding. Having a few easy desserts for those weeknight dinners will be very enjoyable. Making them fruit based and with a little extra dose of nutrition, while also low in refined sugar is our preferred kitchen practice.
No sense reinventing the wheel...
This is a simple riff off of our other chia pudding, Peaches and Cream Chia Pudding. And it comes together just as easily, and like the other pudding, be sure to use your preferred style of milk. Chia seeds are a little magical in that they will soften in just about any liquid with equal success. I have used them to add a bit more nutrition to bread, easy chia seed water, and now these fruit puddings. In my kitchen when I create new recipes and complete daily cooking for meals, nutrition and the best possible taste are always the goal. And this one came through!
Warning, this easy dessert does not dish up pretty, it only tastes delicious!
This is a lovely and easy to make chocolate pudding the whole family will enjoy. And you already know what I will say next, even better with a touch of whipped cream...so let's make Classic Pear and Chocolate Chia Pudding!
Some additional thoughts on this recipe:
The easiest way to warm the honey is in the microwave, about 30 seconds is all you need.
The 10 minute set time is needed so the chia seeds won't sink to the bottom and form a crust.
All chia puddings need a standing time, make this in the morning for dinner that day or let sit overnight.
Keep in mind the fiber content in chia seeds, we each have different fiber needs and tolerances.
Next time consider fresh bananas in place of the pears. You will want to replace the fruit juice listed in the recipe with additional milk.
Ingredients needed for this recipe:
- canned juice pack pears
- milk
- sour cream or Greek yogurt
- chia seeds
- honey
- vanilla
- cocoa powder
You will also need the following:
- measuring cups
- measuring spoons
- medium size bowl
- whisk
- strainer
Now we are ready to begin!
Classic Pear and Chocolate Chia Pudding

This sounds so interesting! I've tried several things with chia (and with chocolate, of course!) but never pear. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing this post with me--and with my readers--at the Will Blog for Comments #33 linkup. Hope to see you next week, too.
